This week I’m thinking about…Rest. Yes, the new year is a great time for a fresh start and it can be fun making big plans and resolutions. I’ve certainly made a few myself. But here at Cottage Corners, we try to take cues from Mother Nature as well. So while I always enjoy cracking open a new day planner, updating my budget, and resolving to move my body more, this year I’m also trying to be mindful of the season. The trees and plants and animals are still at rest. Is it reasonable to push ourselves to work harder and achieve more while our natural habitat slumbers on around us? The time for putting our noses to the grindstone will come. Raising, harvesting, and preserving our crops is hard work. What if we leaned as hard into resting in winter as we do into working in summer and fall?
